A Guide on Sizing Jewellery for Babies and Children

As the leading global children and girl’s jewellery brand, Molly Brown London designs a huge range of different children’s jewellery pieces, from baby bangles, to teen necklaces, childrens stud earrings and children’s bracelets. We understand that children’s bone structures can vary greatly in size and that figuring out whether a piece will fit can be a bit tricky. That’s why we have put together this comprehensive guide on kids jewellery sizing which will help you pick out that perfect piece with confidence.

Bracelets & Bangles

Finding the right sized bracelet or bangle for your child is essential as we offer baby bangles for the smallest or wrists to bracelets for girls that can be worn well into adulthood. To make it easier to find the right size we have put together a handy ‘Will It Fit Guide?’ which you can print  out at home to determine the size of your child’s wrist. This can also be found on every bracelet and bangle product page throughout the website.

If you don’t have a printer it is super easy to measure the size of your child’s wrist. Simply take a piece of ribbon or cotton string and wrap it round your child’s wrist, make a note of where the string ends and then line it up against a ruler to get the measurements. All of our bracelets are adjustable up to 17cm to accommodate various sizes and ages.

If you are measuring for a baby bangle make sure that you also measure the widest part of your baby’s hand, our bangles are designed to expand over this and then spring back to size to sit on the wrist.

Necklaces & Lockets

Like our bracelets, the Molly Brown London children’s necklaces and girl’s lockets are adjustable to grow with the child and fit well into adulthood. Our personalised lockets make beautiful keepsakes that can be worn when she is young and also well into adulthood, keeping those she loves close by throughout her life. All of the necklaces can be worn at the industry standard shortest length of 14” for a child’s necklace, with all of them having adjusters at 16” and some of our teen necklaces going up to 18” for a longer look and to accommodate her as she grows.

Our children’s lockets are perfect for her to hold a photo of the things she loves dearest close to her and come in two sizes, small and large. If you are ever unsure, all of the information on sizing can be found within the ‘Product Specifications’ tab on each product. Most of our lockets are small and suited to younger children and the large lockets are more suited to teen girls and even mothers- ideal for Mummy and Me gifts! Two photos can be placed in all of our lockets and we have put together a print out photo guide to make it easier for you to determine the size of the photo you need for your child’s locket.

Steps

1.Re-size your image to the size suitable for your chosen locket. 10mm x 10mm for the Small Round Locket 11.5mm x 11.5mm for the Small Heart Locket 20mm x 20mm for the Large Lockets

2.Cut out the corresponding pink shape below and attach to the back of your image. Cut around the shape, checking first that the area of the image you want to use is within the area of the template.

3.Pop the cut out image into the locket under the groove, to hold securely and treasure forever.

PLEASE NOTE: As these are childrens lockets the images will be small, please consider what detail will fit inside.

Earrings

We offer a beautiful selection of children’s earrings ranging from her first pearl earrings to honey bee’s for the flower girl on your wedding day. All of our earrings are set upon a 12mm post and are secured with a butterfly back making them super comfortable to wear throughout the day. Our earrings are hypoallergenic and are suitable for young children to adults.

To keep children safe we recommend that you follow these recommended safety guidelines:

– Items should only be for short periods of time and not exceed 24 hours.

– Jewellery should not be worn overnight and always removed when sleeping.

– We recommend children under three (3) years of age be supervised at all times while wearing jewellery.

– Many items of jewellery contain small parts and therefore present a choking hazard.

– We recommend that your child only wears our children’s earrings after the initial healing/period has passed after piercing.
